Jesus Christ is the only head of the church, the one and only true shepherd, the only legitimate one who is preeminent. The elite have stolen their way into Jesus’ sheepfold. Taking his sheep hostage, they have effectively muzzled them, relegating them to sitting in nice orderly rows and following their commands to sit, stand, sing, recite, listen to a prepared speech, drop money into a container, and a host of other things which are all dutifully performed. There is no dialogue and those performers on stage become more and more polished and professional while everyone else comparatively more deficient. For 1,600 years this distortion has solidly rooted itself within the cultural fabric of the church. The early church demonstrated the proper format. A format where everyone is equal, and everyone has a platform. Jesus lovingly molded his church into a culture that nurtured one another into a close and loving family beyond one’s own kin. Today, you can sit in a church with over a thousand people and not significantly know a single soul. It ends up being a cold sterile environment devoid of any true fellowship. This blog will look at the psychological and sociological framework for understanding the damage incurred by ecclesiastical suppression.
